Vicki Vargo: Committed to Conservation, Community, Agriculture and Waterways.
Vicki’s deep connection to the land is rooted in her agricultural background. Working on her family owned blueberry farm, established in 1954, Vicki understands the challenges farmers face, from irrigation and pests to workforce management. This personal experience has instilled in her a profound respect for our natural resources, particularly our waterways.
Growing up on Lake Michigan, Vicki has a lifelong connection to water and is committed to addressing the infrastructure needs required to protect our lakes from pollution and flooding. She will hold both public and private entities accountable for maintaining retention ponds to reduce flooding and filter pollutants.
Vision for Orange County Soil & Water Conservation District 2
As a candidate for Orange County Soil & Water Conservation District 2, Vicki Vargo is dedicated to ensuring every voice is heard, every neighborhood thrives, and every waterway is protected.
Vicki believes in conserving land for green space. In 2000, she worked with Standardbred horse trainers and citizens to stop development planned for Ben White Raceway. Instead, the collaborative effort resulted in Trotters Park, 100 acres of dedicated recreational space for people who are able bodied or have disabilities. In addition to the Miracle League baseball field, she brought in Freedom Ride, therapeutic horse riding program for people with walking disabilities.
Vicki’s dedication to the community extends beyond her professional life. For 24 years, she has been actively involved with the Central Florida Fair, supporting youth in livestock competitions and other 4-H categories. Vicki is a staunch supporter of Farmers Markets and local vendors, often stopping by to purchase fresh produce and engage with farmers.
With a degree from the University of Florida Levin College of Law and 35 years of real estate experience, Vicki Vargo has the knowledge and commitment needed to protect our soil and water resources. She is focused on maintaining and improving the infrastructure that supports our natural environment, ensuring a sustainable future for all of Orange County.
